Verdicchio is Italy’s greatest native white grape variety according to Ian d’Agata, the most respected expert of Italian grape varieties.

La Staffa’s Verdicchio di Castelli di Jesi is grown organically. Stefano is a young and talented winemaker and his Verdicchio is a bright and aromatic white:  “pale straw; distinctly aromatic (almond, citrus, green apple, herbal notes on both nose and palate); medium weight, fresh acidity; long finish”.

Grapes: Verdicchio

Grapes Origin: 8 hectares of vineyards located in the hilly Castellaretta area at 442 m.a.s. in the town of Staffolo.

Vineyards Properties: The soil is mixed calcareous and marley. The vineyards are around 30 years old.

Fermentation an Ageing: The grapes are picked by hand, pressed and fermented in stainless steel and concrete tanks at controlled temperatures for 20 days. The wine refined in concrete tanks until it is bottled.

Alc: 13 – 13.5% vol

Serving Procedure: 10-12 °C

Charachteristics:

The colour is straw yellow with greenish hues.

The bouquet is intense and refined with notes of fresh fruit such as green apple, grapefruit and kiwi, intertwined with elegant floral scents: acacia, broom heather and mimosa.

The taste is smooth, yet fresh, with fragrant acidity and typical notes of fresh almonds on the finish.

Serving Suggestions: Starters and pasta with seafood, poached fish, Parma cured ham, fresh pecorino cheese
