The Sicilian Rosso Cygnus of Tasca d’Almerita comes from vineyards located in the Regaleali estate, in the province of Palermo.

It is a blend of Nero d’Avola and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.  Cygnus is a red wine Sicilian fruity, smooth and round, made from Nero d’Avola and Cabernet Sauvignon, aged in barrique for 14 months. Blackberries, cherries, flowers, berries, sweet spices and tobacco animate a rich and vigorous sip, with good and balanced aromatic intensity

The name of this wine is tied to the history of the Tasca family. A tribute to Richard Wagner, who in 1881 nished the third act of “Parsifal” in the gardens of Villa Tasca, inspired by the swans (cigno) that lived on the lake. A selection of Nero d’Avola, cultivated on the high hills, and Cabernet Sauvignon blended to fully express the potential, elegance and austerity of the Sicilian grape varieties.

Climate trends: Mild and rainy winter ensured good soil water reserves. Cool and dry spring. Hot and dry summer, interrupted by rainfall in August. Regular and optimal ripening for both varieties.

Maceration: two weeks Malolactic fermentation: full
Ageing: In 225-liter French oak barrels (Allier and Tronçais), 30% new and 70% second and third passage, for about 14 months. In bottle for 4 months.
Alcohol Content: 14,5% Vol.
