Appellation: Bolgheri Rosso DOC
Grapes: Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon
Production Area: Greppicante comes from Bolgheri on the beautiful Tuscan coast. The vineyards lie just a few kilometres from the Mediterranean Sea. Warm sunshine helps the grapes achieve excellent ripeness. At the same time, cooling sea breezes preserve freshness and aromatic intensity.
Soil: The vineyards are mainly planted on silty sand and iron-rich red sand, with deeper layers of clay. These well-drained soils contribute freshness, structure and complexity. They also help create the distinctive character associated with Bolgheri wines.
Winemaking: Alcoholic fermentation and maceration on skins takes place in stainless steel vats for around 30 days at controlled temperatures. Malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels.
Ageing: 12 months in 2 and 3 years old French oak barrels, followed by 6 months in the bottle
Organoleptic Evaluation and Food Pairing: Bright ruby red with inviting aromas of ripe cherry, blackberry and other forest fruits. Notes of violet, Mediterranean herbs and spice add complexity. The palate is fresh, smooth and medium-bodied, with soft tannins and balanced acidity. The finish is elegant, fresh and persistent.
Excellent with pasta and ragù, pizza, grilled meats, roast lamb, pork, beef, Mediterranean dishes and mature cheeses.
