Campi Rudi Rosso IGT 2021
Production Area: Puglia/ Apulia

Alcool: 13.5% vol.
The southern Italian region of Apulia is a symbol of full-bodied and aromatic red wines made from the Primitivo grape variety. Especially German admirers can hardly contain themselves with these wines. The Angelo Rocca winery is now breaking out of this cherished standard – but with an excellent idea: Why not marry Primitivo with the most traditional Italian grape variety of all? The result is this successful blend of Sangiovese and Primitivo.
The Campi Rudi Sangiovese Primitivo offers the usual sun-kissed style of Apulia, but with the Tuscan character of the Sangiovese grape variety. As a result, the wine is not quite as spicy as one would expect from a pure Primitivo. Rather, the typical aromas of ripe plums and sour cherries resonate in the wine.
With the Sangiovese Primitivo, Angelo Rocca’s Campi Rudi series is a successful addition, which skilfully brings together two grape varieties. All in all, a well-done change for all Primitivo fans. And also for lovers of Tuscany, the wine provides a particularly harmonious and accessible opportunity to get to know the advantages of Apulia.
How the wine tastes: harmonious & mild
The wine flows into the glass in a dense red with violet reflections. The intense, sweet fragrance shows aromas of ripe cherries and preserved plums. There is also a delicate vanilla tone in the background. Full-bodied, fruity on the palate and with a successful balance of sweet notes and a fresh acid impression. The finish has a long lasting effect and is characterized by subtle tannins.
